The Memphis Synapse Project works to bring LGBTQ community leaders to the table to help promote sexual health, prevent HIV, and connect HIV+ people to care. Specifically, Synapse was developed to engage, educate, and connect same-gender loving (SGL) men and transgender women of color, particularly their underground/niche social networks to HIV prevention and care services. The result is that sexual health education and HIV testing are happening all over Memphis!
This past weekend, Synapse program staff partnered with a passionate community advocate to put on a Sexual Health Slumber Party. Participants learned about sexual health basics, HIV testing, and the new at-home HIV test. There were also opportunities to learn about managing sexual health issues such as erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation through the use of medication such as sildenafil. Everyone has the right to a healthy sex life and therefore finding ways to combat performance issues is fundamental.
