Last week, Laverne Cox descended upon Memphis and shined in the way only a true hero can. Her speech, Ain’t I a Woman: My Journey to Womanhood, was inspirational. LGBTQ people from all over the Mid-South got a rare opportunity to see her speak live and to meet her in person.
This opportunity was thanks to the tireless efforts of the Stonewall Tigers and their adviser, Dr. Kendra Murphy. To all of the students and faculty who helped make this event possible, THANK YOU! Thank you for making sure that OUTMemphis was a part of this, and helping to ensure that transgender women of color got the chance to meet a powerful peer.
