Maya Benson is a native Memphian with a background in nonprofit development and fundraising. Her job entails supporting the development team in creating and implementing annual plans and campaigns that expand and retain OUTMemphis’ donor base. Through her work on the development team, Maya will be able to support programs and outreach, the foundations of OUTMemphis.

“When I was presented with the opportunity to work for OUTMemphis, it was a hard one to pass up. Knowing I could play a part in supporting programs that empower LGBTQ+ folks in our community drove me to where I am now. As an ally, it’s important for me to show that this work isn’t just on the LGBTQ+ community. It’s on all of us, especially allies, to show up and support communities and organizations that advance the message of safety, equity, affirmation, and above all- acceptance.

I look forward to joining this mission and helping create systems that don’t just benefit OUTMemphis today, but for years to come. I want us to show our city, the south, and our country that we are here- for good. “

When Maya isn’t at work, some of her favorite hobbies include cooking, camping, and watching a good reality TV show.
