Hattiloo Theater is telling the powerful story of “Angelic Troublemaker” Bayard Rustin in their upcoming show, Blueprints to Freedom: An Ode to Bayard Rustin.

To help celebrate Bayard Rustin’s contributions to the Civil Rights Movement, OUTMemphis is partnering with Hattiloo on a series of events. Here is the full calendar of Bayard Rustin events coming up in January:

  • Free Screening of Brother Outsider: To whet our appetites and help us fully enjoy the show Hattiloo is hosting a free community screening of Brother Outsider, a documentary about Bayard Rustin on Wed, 1/11, at Baobab Filmhouse at 6:00p.

  • OUTMemphis Night at Hattiloo: Support OUTMemphis and Hattiloo Theater by joining us on Sunday Jan 29 @ Hattiloo Theater (37 Cooper St) from 3:00p-6:00p as we view the play “Blueprints to Freedom: an Ode to Bayard Rustin.” Join us after the play for a panel discussion with community members about some common themes expressed in the play that are still here present-day United States.
