Thank you, Memphis, for an amazing turnout!
Queer Youth Field Day 2019 was an amazing success, and it’s all because of YOU, Memphis! This amazing event couldn’t have happened without the love and support of parents and caregivers willing to bring their youth to have a day of fun with their peers. We played games, we laughed, we ate pizza and snacks, and most importantly we spent time with fellow LGBTQ people in a safe and affirming space!
Thank you to our sponsor Nike Pride for making this possible, both with funding and amazing volunteer support before, during, and after the event. Thank you to University of Memphis for hosting us, and especially for allowing us to use the Ballroom when the weather turned sour. Also, thank you to Trashboat for providing our youth with the ability to make their own pronoun pins, showing solidarity with our trans siblings and making a gender inclusive space for all.
OUTMemphis would also like to thank The Haven for providing HIV testing for this event, Free Mom Hugs for joining us to make the space welcoming and loving, Bridges for joining our efforts in making the LGBTQ youth of Memphis feel welcome, and to the St. Jude Pride group for showing up to be volunteers!
Below are a few photos from this fun event. In all, nearly a hundred youth attended, and just as many volunteers, parents, and supporters came too. Thank you, Memphis, for making this year’s Queer Youth Field Day possible, and we hope that next year will be even bigger and better!
