Spot a Sister: Blue Suede Sisters Spotlight
If you’ve been at an LGBTQ event in the last few months, you’ve probably seen a Sister. The Blue Suede Sisters are an official house of an international LGBTQ movement, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. This organization manifests publicly its beliefs in Life, Love and Sexuality.

The Blue Suede Sisters were at this year’s Cooper Young Festival, spreading their message of love, life, and positive sexuality all day long.
These dedicated Sisters, Novices, and Postulants were braving the heat in their colorful manifestations*, greeting people warmly and showing the world what being out, proud, and alive looks like.
*Manifesting is what they call it when they are out in their full regalia. Next time you see a Sister, feel free to complement them on their fabulous manifesting!
The Sisters were at it again at Planned Parenthood’s annual event, the James Awards.
The Sisters helped to remind us all that everyone fighting for individual autonomy and freedom when it comes to gender and sexuality are on the same team. Even if what we chose to do with that freedom is different, the battle we wage to keep our bodies and our lives ours is the same.
Of course, there was no way the Sisters were going to miss Memphis Pride Fest!
The Blue Suede Sisters were out working the crowd, checking to make sure people were okay (because Memphis heat can be dangerous), and bringing joy to the Pride Parade.

The Blue Suede Sisters are one house in a larger, international organization. After touring around Memphis for all of the LGBTQ-affirming events in September, they took a trip out of town to get recharged and let the other nuns know how our community is fighting to flourish in Memphis.
