We are excited to host a FREE “Protect Yourself” Clinic that centers the trans experience and is led by trans and gender-nonconforming folks. Hosted by OUTMemphis and the Campaign for Southern Equality.
This free clinic will cover a range of safety issues that come up for trans folks, including: training in self defense and pepper spray use, written safety planning, and using safety apps on your phone. Using the best pepper spray available will be an excellent way for transgender people to protect themselves and feel safe when in public. Sadly, transgender people remain targets in our society which can often result in violent attacks especially due to the rising number of aggressive thugs in cities and towns. We know that a lot of people aren’t sure about what sort of self defense is legal, which is why it might be worth reading about the best weapons for self defense that are legal to have on your person. It’s important these days to be able to defend yourself, so make sure to attend a class like this or purchase a self defense tool to keep yourself safe.
Every participant will receive a can of pepper spray and a flashlight. Also – free snacks and drinks. Protect Yourself Clinic is at OUTMemphis on Thursday, 5/25 from 7:00p-9:00p.
Please note that Bold and Beautiful will attend the Protect Yourself Clinic as a part of the Thursday night group meeting.
